The best team did not win

It was an action-packed evening in Anfield. The reds secured their first point in the Premier League after being held 2-2 against champions City.Liverpool lost their lead twice in the game. They started the game with a slow tempo.Liverpool got their frst chance in the game inn the 17th minute when wonderboy Sterling delivered a dangerous cross to Borini who shot the ball wide .Soon after that, Carlos Tevez hits the post after a shot from a tight angle.Liverpool drew first blood when Martin Skrtel  scored with a thunderous header from a corner by Steven Gerrard in the 34th minute.Liverpool went to halftime with a 1-0 lead.

There was much more action in the second half.Jack Rodwell replaced Nasri in the 59th minute.Tevez continues to give problems to Liverpool's defence who were solid and disciplined.Edin Dzeko came in for Balotelli in the 60th minute who have a decent game but could find a way past Skrtel and co.The Citizens finally put the ball in the back of the net after Tevez who has been terrorising Liverpool's back four throughout the game sends in a cross which was met by Yaya Toure who slammed it in Liverpool's goal.

Liverpool looked likely to win the game after Suarez's superb, bended free-kick past Joe Hart, but a miss-placed backpass from the otherwise excellent Skrtel allowed Tevez to go one on one with Reina. Tevez made no mistake on that and the champions snatched a point from Liverpool.

"I thought the best team didn't win. I thought we were outstanding against the top-sides,champions," Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers said. he adde,"We were dissapointed not to win but there were a lot of young players giving us great hope for the future.

He also praised the performance of Raheem Sterling,"for a 17 year-old to play against the champions, he was fantastic." New signing Joe Allen also impressed his boss with a remarkable peformance. The Welshman completed 93.5 percent of his passes.

The mighty reds will play Hearts next on Thursday in the 2nd leg of the Europa League.

Preview of Liverpool Vs Man City

Liverpool's new manager Brendan Rodgers must prove that he is the right man for the Reds as they play against Man City today. The Reds will be hoping to get 3 ponits after their dissapointing and shocking defeat against Wes Brom last week. Despite the Reds dissapointing away form the Reds had a fantastic pre season ecspecially ar home winning 3-0 against Fc Gomel and 3-1 against German Giants, Bayern Leverkusen. Could this be a new spell in Liverpool, performing really well at hiome ? Well, they certainly need to get a result against the English Champions.

However, the most interesting acspect of the match will definately be the battle between Carlos Tevez and Luis Suarez who are known as 'bad boys'. Tevez took a five-month holiday at Argetina after refusing to warm up against Bayern Munich last year. Luis Suarez was found guilty for racially abusing Manchester United's, Patrice Evra. However the Urugyan still denies it till this day. However, the Urugyan striker will always get jeers and boos ecspecially when he is travelling away from home but the stiker could not care less.

The striker had this to add., "The only thing I am interested in is the fans of Liverpool and Uruguay . It is not as if the other fans are going to support an opposotion player anyway, so I am not really that interested in the reception they give me."

For Brendan Rodgers this will be again a massive test for him. The Liverpool manager has already 'vowed' that he will bring back the Reds back to the glory days. But would he be another Hodgson who was abused when he eneterd the Anfiled stadium or would he be the likes of Dalglish, Bob Paisely or the legend Bill Shankly. Well tonight, the answer will be revealed.

Man City on the other hand have lost their tope goal scorer last season Sergio Auguero. Mancini is worried and expects a tough Liverpool trip and the repetation of 5-1 over Spurs last season is unlikely.

The boss had this to add, "Two years ago the second game was Liverpool. Its's always tough for us. Liverpool will be a very strong game."

The Man City boss was really impressed with Jack Rodwell"s preformance and hope that he could deliver more against a tought game against Liverpool at Anfiled today.

Both mangers are feeling mixed emotions of today's game and would be wanting to get a result ecspecially for the new boss Brendan Rodgers would really needs a result against the English Champions.

Prediction  : Liverpool 2-1 Man City
